My son is serving 5 years of a 11 year sentence in federal prison on a drug and gun charge. My grandson is 8 yrs old, we drive him 40 minutes away once a week to visit him. We also have received the books and the tapes which when w e received his first book we all sat and cried because , when your son or daughter is in prison you are in prison also, we have to go through metal detectors, random drug testing ( that only seem to catch 80 year old ladies in it) and wha wha lol when we go into the day room the only enjoyment are the food machines which cost the average person an arm and a leg but you do it so you want them to enjoy their day together. So I commend Carolyn for this part of her journey in life and thank you.

A loving Mom, June

Carolyn,
I especially love what you are doing for convicts. I am 52 year old ex-con out for 20 years but spent from the time I was 15 1/2 years old till I was thirty something in prison and never recieved a single visit from anyone ever. It killed my heart for many years and I still remember to the lonliness and sadness of all those years alone. I became institutionalized for many years and finally a correctional oficer help me see a future. Now I am freee in society and do all I can to reach out to people who need the help, just as you. Thank you Carolyn for saving many lives.

Carolyn,
How ironic that I find out about you today. I'm a grandmother who raised her two grandaughters with a mother in the system. I have lived with the devistation, watching babies cry as they leave their mom. The cries still haunt me. The girls are 17 and 18 now but still have the scars. I would like to get envolved in your project as an active participant. I live in Corpus Christi, Tx. Is there a group here or can something be started? I'm a CJ major. On female inmates. This will seen.

I was deeply touched by Carolyn's story on CNN Heros today. She is doing such a wonderful thing. Her sons love for her and their support was deeply moving. It was an incredible twist of fate when it is usually the mothers supporting their sons convicted of drug crimes. Her story made me cry today . And on this Christmas holiday it was a great thing to see. This world needs more compassionate people like Carolyn. Thank You for what you do and keep up the great work.

I would like to know how I can go about getting my brother on video, my parents are in their 80's and they would love to have a video of my brother, he is in soledad state prison. My dad is in poor health and I don't think he will make it by the time my brother gets out of prison.

I am an elementary principal in Missouri. I have at least six families enrolled with incarerated parents. The work you are doing is phenomenal. Have you done any work in Missouri? What is necessary to expand your work?

I was wondering if you do this project in South Dakota? I have a dad who has been in prison since I was about 3 years old. I think it is GREAT what you do! Although I am now 25 I would love to get video's from my dad and would love my son who is five to see his grandpa. I live in Arizona so I do not get to see him. He is serving life in prison with no parol. That is a long story. Please help me see my dad.

I greatly appreciate what you are doing. When I was younger my Father (the only sibling living) was taken to prison for 5 years. At that time I had the capabilities of visiting him on a weekly basis. But, I could not imagine what it would have been like not being able to see him or being a younger child. Although, I was one of the fortunate ones, I am sure there are many children that are without their mothers and fathers and this really helps being them back together.

Aloha Carole! I was truly inspired by your story. I was one of the silent victims mentioned in your tribute. Like your sons, my mother was incarcerated for 5 years, and we were fortunate enough to have the means to visit my mom with monthly visits. It never occurred to me that many children do not have this privilege. Thank you for bringing this issue to the national forefront. I am making a donation today so you may continue for valiant efforts. God Bless you! Malama Pono from Hawaii!

Carolyn, I saw your story on CNN Heroes last night and just wanted to tell you what a wonderful thing you are doing. My mother was incarcerated for a year and a half awaiting a hearing and I was lucky enough to be able to visit her, and I'm overjoyed to see that your organization hasn't forgotten those who aren't so lucky. People sometimes don't think of those in jail as human beings like them who have made mistakes or are victims of circumstance. I'm glad you understand and will be donating.

Hi Carolyn, I just read your story on CNN and I have to say you are a remarkable woman. Most people in your situation would have ran and never looked back. The service you are giving these people is immeasurable. If more people had your caring and strength this world would be a much better place.
